| Firing
with a hold is a very tried and true method of getting perfect
glaze results, since the many changes in glaze formula's beginning
in the 80's. |
|
If you have a kiln with
a cone sitter you can still achieve a very effective hold cycle
at the end of your firing.
You must be present when
your kiln shuts off ! Plan accordingly.
|

|
| As soon as the kiln shuts
off, set your switches to medium. |

|
| Lift the shut off lever
up, |

|
| and while raised push in
the start button. |

|
| Gently lay the
Lever back down. Your kiln will turn back on..
Begin timing your hold cycle.. Even
10 minutes of hold makes a difference in the results of firing
glazes.
|

|
| After 10, 20 or how ever
many minutes your choose for your hold cycle, lift the lever up and let
go..... This action will shut off your kiln ending your
firing. |

|
| Try a Manual Hold Cycle.. and experience
the difference in your glaze firings. |
